Did you use the brush tool or the pen tool for this?

They almost look like vectors -- I was going to ask you if you had used Illustrator before I had read the description.

I used the pen tool but u have to make setting changes to your brush tool to get the right effect.
I haven't ever used Illustrator but I'm trying to download it to see if I like using it better.
I'm pretty comfortable with just using Photoshop for inking.

Yes, I've always used the brush tool in Photoshop for inking, but I recently discovered the joy that is inking in Illustrator.

The biggest issue I have with Illustrator is formatting -- but once you have everything set up the way you want to/need to, it's really an amazing program to use. The freeform pen tool is the best I've used -- I tried doing vector inking in Flash before I moved to Illustrator, and it was just too... I don't know. Loose. The pressure sensitivity in Flash is really kind of "wonky."

I'm also trying to get myself better at using Painter for coloring.

^^: Flash just totally confused me!
I'll see what happens with Illustrator. The inking in Photoshop is pretty simple, it will probably be the same process as Illustrator but I don't know yet.
I like it cause I can do everything all in one program and I don't have to jump or have more then one program open to make line corrections when I'm coloring.

Ah, yes.

When you use the pen tool in Photoshop, are you using it with a mouse -- on each individual anchor point -- or are you using a tablet with the freeform pen tool?

I use a tablet but I set my anchor points and adjust them to my liking and then stoke the path.
I'm not real steady ^^;

"Wow!" was my first impression when I loaded this. =D

Seriously, I'd by lying if I said this didn't give the race any justice. You have defined a beautiful and true to form image of one of their people, and the pose and expression are wonderful. And of course, I love the toning on her stomach! To say the least, it shall be a pleasure on my half to CG. ^____^

Though I have to say I might be tempted to try coloring it myself.
Sometimes I look at what I've done and I can't hardly believe "I did that"
That's kinda how this picture is.

I think that way a lot about my backgrounds. If you saw the first few layers of many of them, I'd probably deserve a brick thrown at me. So it's a good thing I stick to them. The backgrounds I mean - not the bricks. XD

Btw, I've updated this lineart to the Nelri Gallery. ^^

lol! yeah
All your backgrounds turn out great.
Most of the time by the time I've finished coloring the character itself I don't even wanna thank about doing a full color background! XD

That seems to be my way at times when I draw a female character, I have a difficult time wanting to add clothes over the skin tone work I applied in the first place. >_>;; Yes, most of the time I create 'dolls' so to speak so I can experiment with clothing better, knowing where all the anatomy is, etc. So in a way, I'm creating more than just a single artwork with all it's blimmin' stages before becoming final. XD

yeah I do much of the same thing when I'm drawing, though probably not in as much detail if I know I'm going to be adding clothes.

Well the detail isn't of high concern to me either. Just getting the skin tones. ^^
